Game of Thrones T-Shirt Designs New

Has anyone else been glued to the TV to watch Game of Thrones? It's such an awesome show. Just in case you haven't heard of it, it's a medieval fantasy/action/drama badass new series on HBO. The first season just finished so now's the time to check it out! It's based on a series of novels penned by George RR Martin called "A Song of Ice and Fire" which I haven't read, but will be reading very soon.

Anyway, Faigenbaums over at Mortui non Mordent (known for Buffy, Angel and Firefly designs) has made a series of awesome designs for the different Houses, so check them out (just click on your favorite team below)

KRAZY TENGU

Tengu is a USB gadget with a digital face whose mouth moves in sync with voices (recorded or live). My fiancee and I were over at a friend's house having a few drinks and we decided to mess around with their Tengu. Well, some of it ended up on video and I decided to use it as an ad for my shop, because it's very silly and the name of the game is Get Silly Productions. Now, there's 2 types of ads, the first type is informative, relevant, and purposeful. The second type of ad is random, funny, and completely unrelated to the product. This is the second type of ad, enjoy :D (WARNING: CONTAINS EXPLICIT LANGUAGE)

The Goodness of Bad Movies

Remember that awesome 80s martial arts film Bloodsport? You know, the one where Van Damme fights Bolo Yeung in the Kumite? Anyway, when I was younger I used to think the film was amazing! Are you kidding me, that was the most bad-ass film ever. Well, I just saw it for the first time in years. It's so incredibly bad, not bad-ass, but bad. Horrible acting and dubbing and poorly shot and it's just a mess really. It's one of those films that's so bad it's good, but not just good, it's AWESOME how bad this film is! I love it. Anyway I was inspired by this scene where Chong Li (played by Bolo) has just finished off Frank's (played by Van Damme) American friend in the tournament lays the badly dubbed verbal smack down. Here's the scene:

NEW DESIGN!!!

I've been working on this one for quite some time (life these days is very busy), but I've finally finished it and I'm extremely pleased with the result. The new design is based on the show "How I Met Your Mother" It's the scene when Ted calls Barney in the middle of his laser tag game. I've posted the design up on DarnFineShirts.com (click to rate the design). You can rate all my designs and see the moments that inspired them by going on my Squidoo Lens.

Credit crunch squeezing your wallet? Not to worry, I've dropped prices on everything in the shop. That's right, Get Silly Productions has gone from premium mark-ups to low-level mark-ups, which means big savings on awesome designs like this hilarious Zoolander design (above)

I've also updated the Squidoo Lens with an "Inspirations" section. Basically, it's a collection of YouTube clips of the moments that inspired the designs in my shop. Take for instance, this design (above) that was inspired by Phoebe's song in "The One with the Blackout" episode of Friends. Go to my lens to watch her sing the song.

Big Improvements and Redesign

I recently discovered that I wasn't using the right template to get the most out of my design area, so for the next week or two, I'm redesigning my images to maximize their t-shirt coverage and one by one replacing and resizing each product in my shop. It's going to be a long laborious process that will take place mostly in the mornings before my daughter wakes up and before I go to work, it could take a couple of weeks, but it's worth it. I want my designs to be the best they can for you! You can see the difference here; now I can get a larger image AND have enough room to stack in the text, before I had a smaller image and had to squeeze all the text into one line. The old design is on top and the new design is the bottom one, and is much better. Other than that, I have been working on a design based on the show "How I Met Your Mother" because it's hilarious and I love it. The design is going to feature Barney and Laser Tag, I don't want to give too much away, but it's AWESOME ;) I've joined the CafePress affililate program and will be cautiously exploring that. I hope I can feature shops on my Squidoo lens that I have affiliated soon. I'll also be adding new modules that have to do with the subject content of my designs, so that should get some traffic my way and hopefully I'll get to talk to some people who like the same things I do and maybe even get some feedback on my sites!

Hello there :) this is the very first newsletter for Get Silly Productions. I'm very excited to tell you about two things:

1. A new design!

Well, sort of. You see, my fiancee decided to close one of her CafePress shops and to donate her best selling design to my shop! She is a huge fan of the TV show Friends and had made a shop and several designs based around it. Unfortunately, since it's such a huge franchise, CafePress were really strict about it; to the point where having the characters names on a design, or even in a description caused her to get flagged, resulting in her having to remove content on a regular basis. Besides, now she has more time to dedicate to her Buffy/Angel shop which is her main passion. So here it is, the newest design to be added to Get Silly Productions, "Pivot!!"

About the design: it's from season 5 episode 16 "The One with the Cop". Remember when Ross has Rachel and Chandler helping him move his new couch upstairs? He's shouting instructions "Pivot! ...Pivot! ...Pivot!!" and Chandler shouts "SHUT UP! SHUT UP! SHUT UUUPPP!!!" It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen and my belly hurts from laughing whenever I watch it.

2. A Squidoo Lens!

I recently discovered Squidoo, if you haven't heard of it, I highly recommend signing up and making a lens (single page devoted to a subject). It's really cool and you can make as many lenses as you want, they have viewer driven ratings systems and you can recommend and link to other lenses, you can add numerous modules to your lenses as well (including a blog module!) It's a great way to advertise your blog or just share your interests. Anyway, here's a link to my lens, it's about my shop (of course!) and it's probably the first of many:
